help with the gallery pages

There are two versions of the sculpture image gallery to which this help belongs - both contained within the same page - and the behaviour of your page depends on whether you have your browser scripting enabled and if so, how your browser responds to the dynamic (interactive) html tests presented to it.

If you see this window as a small pop-up, keep it small enough to see some gallery page around it and it will go into the background when you click anywhere on the gallery. Then, when you click on an info in the gallery or the enlargement window in most browsers, it should reappear, the size and place you left it, at the words about the image you clicked near. If your browser loses its place in this window, (as may happen if your resize it) click on the window you got here from and then the last link you used in it to get back to where you started here.

If this page has replaced the one you clicked on to get here, you are probably using the simpler, non-interactive version. You will need to use your browser forward/back buttons to alternate between the image and text documents.

If you are at this page because something isn't working well, here are your options.

While the site is designed for screens of many sizes and resolutions, the enlargements are best viewed with any unnecessary toolbars hidden as they almost fill a 1024x768 screen. The script for the windows asks for the minimum of browser toolbars so you have the most useful screen area (go back to the index page if you need to use the toolbars) but your browser has overriding control over this.

about the notes on the works

Some of the longer stories about the works in the gallery are grouped in a separate document to keep the size and download time of the catalogue within reason. They are linked from their listing in the catalogue. You are taken directly to the longer story if you click the info link for one of the works with such a story.

Some of the notes are based upon my feelings about the depicted works as I wrote this web site. Notes on some of the older works include the commentaries written for the Val dolphin Catalogue of Sculpture - January 1991.

The gallery to which this document belongs shows only a melee of small sculptural things I made between 1988 and 1995. To see my other works, follow the links on the wavesculptor.com index page ( here, via a scripted shortcut, or ask for it from the server if the shortcut doesn't work ).

The gallery includes makings of some significance to myself and others as well as things trivial, and lost or forgotten but for their depiction here. All the images are accessed initially, as if the faces of personalities in a crowd. Each has a 'face' intentionally about the same size competing for one's attention. Some may catch ones attention through some resonance of form and feeling, or one may plod methodically through the melee. Until one tunes in to the work, its significance or lack of it remains indeterminate or imaginary. I sincerely hope you meet some you enjoy.
